Automation Engineer (Testing)
Contract-to-Hire

As a Sr. Automation and Development Engineer you will be a software engineer, playing a leading role by bringing a strength in pragmatic, automated testing as an engineering practice.

This role will be in support of expanding and maturing our client's current CI/CD and test-driven development methodology.

The ideal candidate would be fluent with automated unit testing, integration testing, and end-to-end (UX) testing, across web and mobile applications.

They should be comfortable working in multiple languages across many products and systems, and working in a high-velocity agile environment with a tight working relationship between business and technology teams.

Technologies currently utilized by the teams include Docker, Jenkins, Karma, Istanbul, Angular/TypeScript, REST, GraphQL, Git, NodeJS, C#, SQL databases, and Slack/ChatOps.

Specific Responsibilities:
- As a hands-on developer, design, code, and prove correctness for web and mobile applications (iOS and Android).

- Provide mentoring to lead the development teams to do the same.

- Lead company strategy and execution of integration and end-to-end testing using tools and technologies such as BrowserStack, Appium, REST, GraphQL, etc., integrated into the build/deploy automation.

- Develop a reusable and maintainable automated functional test framework, testing strategy, and test cases to achieve maximum risk coverage.

- Communicate test results and highlight potential risks.

Required Skills:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a Computer Science or equivalent work experience.

- Proficient expertise with test automation frameworks and hands-on coding experience with JavaScript and other testing tools, frameworks, and methodologies, with strong JavaScript background (e.g. for NodeJS and Angular applications).

- 5+ years of experience working with complex software projects providing highly performant, highly available, mission-critical web and data services.

- Experience working with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment technologies such as Jenkins and Docker.

- In-depth knowledge of quality engineering methodologies and best practices.

- Understanding of various testing techniques (i.e. white-box, black-box, coverage testing, load testing, and regression testing).

- Ability to clearly communicate and work with business and technical co-workers.

Desired Skills:
Direct experience with or exposure to testing in an Agile delivery model.
Experience with testing techniques and tools related to mobile technologies.
Strong knowledge of Mobile automated test methodologies (automated test script development, automated test tool/utility development, and automated test framework establishment).
Experience working in AWS / cloud environments, leveraging managed services.
