Title: Site Reliability Engineer

Description: The primary responsibilities of this position are to manage the internal technical infrastructure, vendors, and projects. Special focus is on maximizing uptime while keeping the environment secure and up to date.

Daily Responsibilities:
- Maintain day-to-day operations and documentation of critical 24x7 production systems including secure local and wide area networks in a highly available distributed environment.
- Participate in shared on-call duty and respond to support calls after normal business work hours and on the weekends. This also includes performing scheduled after-hours tasks as required.
- Work with external vendors to maintain client's hosted infrastructure and 24x7 help desk. Review and negotiate vendor contracts, purchases and projects.
- Ensure appropriate uptime, storage and redundancy is maintained in the overall infrastructure. Work to improve these systems over time.  
- Design, implement, and maintain a highly automated environment that maximizes productivity, deployment speed, security and reliability.
- Ensure IT systems are compliant with internal and customer security policies.  This includes both governance and technical work.
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans, operational procedures and system documentation.
- Order, install, configure, backup and inventory new hardware and software as needed. 
- Patch, upgrade and lockdown systems and software across the environment.

Be responsible for the maintenance of the following systems:
-
Production Systems including servers, firewalls and ESXi hosts
- Back end systems like LDAP, job schedulers and NTP
- Business applications such as email, document storage and cloud services
- Some support of personal computers and mobile devices as needed
 

Required Skulls:
- 5 or more years of hands on IT operation & system administration experience minimum. This is a senior role and the candidate is expected to have significant depth.
- Strong technical expertise with Linux, scripting, firewalls, virtualization and networking is a must.
- Exposure to various automation, configuration management tools and continuous integration systems would be helpful.
- Some familiarity with VOIP, IVR and telecommunications a plus.
- Ability to function effectively as an active member of a small technical team and to work independently as projects require.
- Strong self-management and prioritization skills are required.

- Ability to adapt quickly to changing business objectives and to be flexible in a small, entrepreneurial company.
